Marta Belsky is Deaf and a third generation ASL user who enjoys sharing her native language. She has been teaching ASL and interpreting for over 30 years with both new learners and interpreters looking to improve. It is important to her that people learn the language the "right" way and learn about Deaf Culture at the same time — you can't have one without the other!

She is a co-owner of Signing Savvy.

Marta has performed sign language for sign language educational products, including The Personal Communicator: A Communication Environment for Deaf Children. The Personal Communicator was awarded Discover Magazine's Software Innovation of the Year award in 1995.

Born and raised in Michigan to Deaf parents, she attended the Flint Public Schools and Michigan School for the Deaf before going to Gallaudet University. She received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Gallaudet and a Masters in Deaf Education from Western Maryland College.

Marta moved back to Michigan and began her teaching career as a full time faculty member teaching ASL at Madonna University. She moved to East Lansing and joined the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities at Michigan State University as the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist and Interpreter Coordinator. She continued to teach ASL in the evenings. She then became the ASL Coordinator/Faculty member for the Michigan State University Deaf Education Program. She also was a Language Mentor for Sign Language Interpreters working towards certification.

She has been a board member for both the Michigan Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and the Michigan Chapter of American Sign Language Teachers Association, as well as served on the Lansing Community College Interpreter Program Advisory Board.

She lives in Florida now and focuses on continuing to approve Signing Savvy and teaching one on one. In her spare time she enjoys cycling and reading.
