I have tried searching for "help", but I have yet to find any variations.
In college I was taught: "The left hand lift the right A-hand." But many years later, when I started teaching my infant ASL, I saw the variation on a VHS tape (LOL). My husband & I felt the "help" variation (tapping both open 'five hands' simultaneously on the chest) would be easier for her to mimic. The added benefit was she only needed 1 hand to sign it; which was very helpful in certain situations.
Thanks for your input.
Any more insight would be much appreciated!

On "Sign With your Baby" by Joseph Garcia, I have seen tapping the two "Five Hands."
Thank you, Susan.

Thank you, Susan!
I appreciate your information. That's it! I couldn't remember the name of the VHS tape nor the instructor.
I want to share the info with (John and) Signing Savvy.
Thanks again!

Tiffany I believe what you are referring to is a variation of HELP that shows desperation. I have seen that before in cases where the signer is trying to be more dramatic also. As for the earlier questions about the HELP on the chest with the two 5-hands. I do believe that is a Baby Sign invented variation of HELP but is not the accepted ASL version of the word. (Sorry to have missed that conversation earlier...it didn't come to me, so I didn't respond.)

Have you seen "help" signed by tapping both open 'five hands' simultaneously on the chest?
Thank you.
