Colors in American Sign Language (ASL)

Below is a list of signs for colors in American Sign Language (ASL). Signs exist for many basic colors, but not for more specific or detailed colors. For example, there isn't a sign for the color CRIMSON, instead you would use the sign for RED. If you want to be more specific, you can fingerspell the word (like CRIMSON) or you can use descriptive signs to explain the color, such as DARK or LIGHT. Try explaining the color like you would in spoken English if someone wanted more details. For example, what do you mean by AQUA? You could say LIGHT BLUE or GREEN-BLUE depending on what you are trying to convey.
