I get a lot from the signs given by the lady along with the sign of the day. Sometimes though they are convoluted; why?

example:

L-O-U-I-S-E F-L-E-T-C-H-E-R SHE CODA HERSELF ACTRESS SHE WON THREE AWARDS O-S-C-A-R B-A-F-T-A G-L-O-D-E-N G-L-O-B-E FOR ONE MOVIE FOR QUOTE O-N-E F-L-E-W O-V-E-R T-H-E C-U-C-K-O-O’S N-E-S-T QUOTE.

L-O-U-I-S-E F-L-E-T-C-H-E-R SHE CODA HERSELF ACTRESS SHE WON THREE AWARDS O-S-C-A-R B-A-F-T-A G-L-O-D-E-N G-L-O-B-E FOR ONE MOVIE FOR QUOTE O-N-E F-L-E-W O-V-E-R T-H-E C-U-C-K-O-O’S N-E-S-T QUOTE.

Fingerspelled words

Hi James,

Words in the ASL sentence that have the letters seperated with dashes mean they are fingerspelled. In the example of AWARD that you listed "Louise Fletcher" is fingerspelled and so is the name of the awards she won - Oscar, Bafta, Golden Globe - and also the name of the movie she won the awards for, "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest." That particular sentence was one of our more difficult examples because of all of the fingerspelled words in there, but we like to have a variety of examples with different difficulty levels and all of those words would be fingerspelled. Hope that helps!
