Across 20 years and several states, Suellen Bahleda became certified, interpreted, taught entry-level as well as advanced ASL and interpreting classes, and presented workshops. She came to American Sign Language through community school evening classes and began her sign language career working as a teacher’s aide in a high school day program for the deaf in California. She holds a B.A. in Theatre and Communication Arts, an M.Ed in Adult Education, and a M.Div (Master of Divinity).
Now she is a pastor for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and is the author of several American Sign Language books. She has also been a member of the Signing Savvy Advisory Board since 2015.
