Marta Belsky is a third generation ASL user. She has been teaching ASL for 30 years and enjoys sharing her native language with new users.
She has Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Gallaudet University and a Masters in Deaf Education from Western Maryland College. She has taught ASL at Michigan State University, Madonna University, and Lansing Community College's Interpreter Training Program.
In addition to serving on the Signing Savvy Sign Language Advisory Board, Marta sits on the Lansing Community College Interpreter Training Program (LCC ITP) Advisory Board and has also been a board member for the Michigan Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and the Michigan Chapter of American Sign Language Teachers Association.
Brenda Cartwright is a seasoned interpreter, a master teacher, well known presenter, and author of several best selling sign language and interpreting textbooks. For 35 years Brenda was the Chair of the Sign Language Interpreter Program at Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan.
Kelley King-Spears is a mother of four children and a former Licensed Practical Nurse. She is passionate about caring for the needs of children. Kelley is always looking for ways to enhance the experience and quality of living of developmentally delayed children.
Kathleen Marcath has a BA in Deaf Community Studies and is passionate about helping students and families make connections through American Sign Language. Kathleen has the privilege to work with hard of hearing students providing sign language support, building vocabulary, confidence and community. She strives to create an atmosphere that promotes harmony, excellence, exploration and certainly fun. In establishing ASL Educational Services – Making Connections she is helping people tap into their potential and the hidden potential of American Sign Language. Currently, Kathleen serves as President for the Michigan Chapter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
Kim Martinez is a wife and mother of two girls. Their family found out that their first born was profoundly deaf at 18 months old. Now both of her girls are very grown up, but Kim continues to be passionate about deaf education.
John Miller is the "Man in the Blue Shirt" who demonstrates how to sign in the videos on Signing Savvy. John first began his work with sign language twenty-two years ago in an interpreter-training program, but after working in the mainstream classroom setting, he quickly realized his passion was in education. He went on to teach deaf and hard of hearing children in the public school setting and became a leader for incorporating sign language communication between the home and school settings and involving parents into the educational equation.
Lindsey Williams is an interpreter and mentor in Lansing, Michigan. She is currently studying for a masters degree in Interpreting Studies and Communication Equity at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN.
Brian Winn designs, creates, and researches interactive media. Brian’s award-winning interactive media work has been presented, exhibited, and experienced around the world. Brian has worked on several sign language educational software projects over the last twenty years and serves as the all-around technology guru for Signing Savvy.
Jillian is an experienced technology strategist and user experience designer passionate about using and creating online tools to make life not only easier, but to increase the quality of life for others. Jillian harnesses the sign language expertise from members of the Signing Savvy team and brings it to life as a technology solution. Specifically, she manages the design and development of the Signing Savvy website and mobile applications, as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the company.
