Sign Word List: ASL University, Lesson 3 - Dr. B
Word 10 of 65

Word List Author Note: The sign BIG gets 'bigger and bigger' with each concept (big, large, huge, enormous). But there are other signs for "big," depending on the context. These have different ways to show "big," as shown with the video clips here. You cannot sign "big" the same way for a big dog, a big tree, a big drink, a big book. It depends on the dimensions or features of the object. The sign BIG (as taught by Dr. Vicars) is the 'generic' sign for "big."

BIG, BIG, LARGE, BIG (=brawny/broad-shouldered)
