Humphries & Padden (Learning American Sign Language) Unit 1 "Introductions and Personal Information" This word list contains the sign vocabulary provided in the Vocabulary List as well as in the pages of the unit itself. Remember to check the notes/comments at the bottom of the webpage that shows the sign. As a member, you have access to notes, and other features on Signing Savvy (including access via SmartPhone, etc., I think. Take advantage of all the tools you have available.

Pronouns:  ME, I;  YOU (singular, on sightline);  IX-there (index, off signline) = she, he, it, him, her;  WE, us [sweeping]; THEY, them [sweeping, off sightline];  YOU (plural, on sightline);  MY, mine;  YOURS, your (singular, on sightline);  IX=poss [singular possessive (off sightline) = his, her, hers, its];  OURS, our;  THEIRS, their;  YOURS, your (plural, on sightline)

Question Signs:  WHO? [var.];  WHERE? 

People:  STUDENT, pupil, learner; TEACHER, professor, educator, instructor; MAN [3 var.];  WOMAN [3 var.];  GIRL, female, chick, maiden, lass, etc. (1 or 2 movements);  BOY, male, dude, guy, fellow, etc. [2 var.];  MOTHER, female parent(of any 'name') [tapped or place; keep vertical];  FATHER, male parent.
