This List focuses on vocabulary from 'The American Sign Language Phrase Book' by Lou Fant. The list is mostly sentences utilizing the Fant 3 target vocabulary.  Some sentences are from the book (or nearly so), and others are more "for practice."

The sentences are often "spliced together" by stringing together individual signs from Signing Savvy, so the sentences is 'jerky.'  The sentences are in ASL order, not in English order.  There are "author's notes" from me to help you with your understanding of the vocabulary and/or sentence structure and/or choice of signs.

You should practice these sentences (after understanding the Author's Notes).

The goal of learning ASL (or any language) is to be able to fluently converse with native signers.   It's not about learning vocabulary.  So, make sure to learn to vocabulary as a means to attaining the goal of fluent communication.  Praciticing these sentences is a start.

Look for a second Shared List of Fant 3 vocabulary -- but just the vocabulary (not sentences).
